"I took my 7 month old son to Dr. Judith Strutz yesterday. She fixed his tongue and lip tie. The procedure went very well. She demonstrated how to do his lip and tongue stretches. She took time to examine my son. She has such an incredible energy. I felt so comfortable with her and her staff. I would recommend her to anyone in need of this procedure. I am sorry I waited so long to have my son seen, but so happy I found Dr. Strutz!" LB

Laser Surgery for tongue or lip-tied infants and children is generally well tolerated. At the all female office of Dr. Judy Strutz, we pride ourselves in doing everything we can to minimize any stress and discomfort your child may feel during the procedure. Dr. Strutz utilizes a LightScalpel Laser The LightScalpel CO2 laser is a device that produces a concentrated beam of light. The highly focused CO2 laser beam vaporizes, cleanly and precisely, while sealing blood vessels at the same time.
To make your child more comfortable, a topical numbing cream is utilized for children under 12 months of age. For children 12 months or older the same numbing cream is used, but additional local anesthetic may be necessary in some instances. We do not ever use general anesthetic. |
BeforeBefore treatment recommendations are made, a thorough exam will be done to check for both lip and tongue ties.
We plan adequate time during the appointment so if you should choose to go forward with treatment, we can take care of your child's ties right away. |
DuringThe actual procedure generally takes 3-5 minutes. Some fussing or crying during the procedure is common.
We are pleased to use a LightScalpel CO2 laser, as this means minimal (if any) bleeding and more immediate healing. |
AfterYou will be left in a private room where you may breastfeed, bottle-feed and soothe your baby for as long as is necessary.
Once home, Tylenol can be given to keep your child comfortable. Stretches are necessary for optimal results. |
